Congratulations on having completed the beginner level!

In this web quest, you will have the opportunity to learn more about how to use your existing IT skills and competences to meet some of the actual needs of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry, since ICT influences the growth of the hospitality industry in every kind of business.

In this task you will also code a Scratch project at intermediate level which replicates the running of a Hotel Front Desk Management System software.

This project will help you develop an understanding of how coding is used in the Hotel industry and the importance of technology in the tourism sector in general.

Remember that in Scratch, the way you interact with your program is through sprites. Sprites are objects within your program that you can interact with – you can change the way they act using scripts. In the template you will use, many of the sprites have already been given basic scripts, such as the buttons.

Hotel technology nowadays is so enriched by the latest e-platforms, applications, tools and and functions, that it can be really difficult to follow. In this task you will learn more about hotel management software and improve your ICT skills.

In addition, in this example we continue to code, developing a system which replicates a Hotel Front Desk Management Software System used by staff working at the front desk and in customer service. Once this project is completed, the user will have built a real working software system which can allow staff to:

  • Book a meal
  • Create a room service order

Process

Start by reading about the 10 Best Hotel Management Software for 2022 and watch the video "8 tips for excellent hospitality customer service".

Make the next step by registering yourself into the free e-learning platform of the Erasmus+ project ICT4TCN that aims at facilitating the access of Third-Country-Nationals to the ICT labour market. You can find courses for begginer, intermediate and advanced level and learn more, in your own time and pace, about basic office packages, the creation of a high-quality CV, or even digital marketing or programming.

In addition, in order to complete this task, you are required to watch the video in the resources section and also follow the instructions in the PDF titled "Scratch -Hotel and Restaurant Management - Intermediate" in the documents section.
