At this point you should have already completed the code from the beginner resource and the intermediate.

In this example we will code a project at advanced level using Scratch which replicates the running of a Hotel Front Desk Management Software System used by staff working at the front desk and in customer service.

This project will help you develop an understanding of how coding is used in the hotel industry and the importance of technology in the hospitality sector.

By now, you have already understood that in Scratch, the way you interact with your program is through sprites - objects within your program that you can interact with. You can change the way they act using scripts. In the template that you use, many of the sprites have already been given basic scripts, such as the buttons.

If you are interested in working in the gastronomy sector, now it's a good point to develop even more your skills via the useful sources that are proposed!

If you are interested to work in the hospitality or gastronomy sector, remember that soft skills can make a difference. The proposed links and free e-course in the resources section can help you upskill yourself.

In this example we are also continue to code, developing a project which replicates a Hotel Front Desk Management Software System used by staff working at the front desk and in customer service.

Once this project is completed, the user will have built a real working software system which can allow staff to:

  • View which rooms need to be cleaned
  • View customer bill

Process

Start by clicking the first video and hear experts talking about the European market and the "The Future of Customer Experience in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality".

Continue by registering yourself in the free e-learning platform of the Erasmus+ project Cooking Cultures and attend the online course in your own time and pace. The course addresses low-skilled migrants interested in the gastronomy sector and is avaiable in English, Greek, Turkish and German. Through this platform you can learn more about soft skills for employees in the culinary sector, intercultural communication, hygiene issues, sustainable food system, management and organization, as well as make your first steps into Greek, Turkish and German language.

In order to complete this task, you are also required to follow the instructions in the PPT/PDF file titled "Scratch -Hotel and Restaurant Management - Advanced".

Conclusion

Congratulations!

You have completed the advance section of the Hotel Front Desk Management Software System and you can now design a real working software system which can allow staff to:

  • View vacant rooms
  • View Occupied rooms
  • Book a meal
  • Create a room service order
  • View which rooms need to be cleaned

By the end of this lesson, your project should look like this https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/649245303 (The finished code - Use this if you get stuck).

You have also raised awareness about the importance of digital skills for the hospitality industry and have become more qualified employee!
